Lupita Nyong apos;o And Mark Hamill Win At Daytime Emmy Children apos;s Awards

and Mark Hamill were among the famous faces who emerged triumphant on Saturday at the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
The 38-year-old Academy Award winner and the 69-year-old star were both honored at the ceremony for children's programming and animation, while Sunday's show will focus on fiction and lifestyle programming.
Nyong'o took home the Emmy for Outstanding Limited Performance In a Children's Program for her role as The Storyteller on 's Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices.

The educational series premiered on the streamer back in September and features a number of notable Black celebrities reading children's books, with many of them featuring social messages.

Unlike Nyong'o, Mark Hamill was available for the award ceremony and was game to chat with the host, Raven-Symoné after his win was announced. 
He took home the award for Outstanding Performer in a Preschool Animated Program for his Disney series Elena Of Avalor, in which he voices the villain Vuli.
The series premiered in 2015 on the Disney Channel, before moving to the more child-centric Disney Junior in 2018.

It aired its final episode in August of last year.
The series followed the princess Elena as she learned to lead the magical kingdom of Avalor.
The show also won the Outstanding Casting award for an animated series. 
Although Hamill is best known for his live-action roles in the Star Wars films, he has been a successful voice actor since the late '70s.

Hamill appeared to have accepted the award from home in front of a stone fireplace.
He stuck around for a bit after his award was announced to chat with Raven-Symoné.
After she asked him some of his favorite things about voice acting, he replied, 'I love the fact they cast with their ears and their eyes!'
The Brigsby Bear star was particularly drawn to the behind-the-scenes nature of voice work. 
'It's a character actor's dream and I love the anonymity of it.

I love the fact that they can't see you. It liberates you to make bold choices you probably wouldn't make if the camera were on you.'
He added: 'I love the voiceover community. They're some of the most gracious welcoming and talented people I've ever encountered in all my years in this business year.'

Co-hosting the first part of the Daytime Emmys was Odd Squad star Millie Davis.
In addition to her chat with Hamill, the TV star quizzed other winners on what inspired them or how they made sure their shows were aimed at children and not adults.

Among the other major winners at the ceremony was Sesame Street and the show's side projects.
The Power of We: A Sesame Street Special took home the awards for Outstanding Preschool, Children's or Family Viewing Program and Outstanding Writing Team for a children's program, while the original Sesame Street won for Outstanding Directing Team.
The show's producer Todd James spoke about how important it was to have the show following the 'great social unrest' of 2020, according to , before adding that the Sesame Workshop 'decided to make this show to address those issues.'
'Sesame Street is there for children to react, to address current needs for all our children worldwide.

Sesame is always there to do that work,' he said.
Among animated fare, Hulu's revived Animaniacs was one of the big winners.
The irreverent comedy won for Outstanding Voice Direction, Outstanding Original Song, Outstanding Editing and Outstanding Individual Achievement for its storyboard artist.
